To what degree does participation in/ membership in a learing community (virtual or in-person) impact use of OER?

i.e., is being part of a community of one sort or another important for complete use, reuse, and "recontribution" of OER

I believe we should teach data collection that displays on a map where people can be located and impacts viewed in a visual way, such as what is occuring with sites like Ushahidi

Our evidence, through the work of MICDL, the participation within a professional  learning community can make or break the interest of teachers moving forward to incorporate OER resources.

If as Gary pointed out the "E" is for education, then perhaps one metric for content producers should be student outcomes with regard to content mastery and engagement, as well as students' (and teachers') qualitative assessment of content.
