Using Moodle forums for student team activities

The level 2 course 'team working in distributed environments' previously used FirstClass as the main medium for student interaction. We have now moved to the VLE so that we can provide both forums and wikis for each team. Teams can also use other (external) tools if they wish. If using other tools the team interaction should recorded within the forum, for example by setting agendas, uploading transcripts or posting minutes of meetings. Students so far have tended to find using the forums and wikis quite easy, and the tools seems to support team working well. The use of threads within the VLE forum needs some different thinking compared with FirstClass. [Kay Bromley]
