E. Thursday - Establishing Institutional Projects on OER
Discussing main motivations, barriers, staff engagement and sustainability
Establishing an OER institutional Project requires a number of actions on different fronts: the identification of a model for OER production, the engagement of staff members and a closer look at current business models.
This is a very vast topic for discussion but in this cloud we'll try to raise some of the important issues on institutional projects based on our own experience at the Open University UK and on the experience of our colleagues from other institutions across the world.
Some resources for our discussion are:
- Sections 6 and 7 of the UNESCO OER Toolkit presents a discussion on strategy, funding and technologies that can be used in an institutional project;
- a video by Engin Kursun on Initiating an OCW Project;
- links to resources on' business models' kindly offered by Jacky Hood of the College Open Textbooks, Silicon Valley, USA
So, from your experience, what are the advantages & challenges of starting an institutional OER initiative?

I liked the video, Engin. I have now seen a different side to you.
