Looks like a really interesting paper - would have thought this will generate alot of interest.

Hi,

I have just joined cloudworks so am a little unfamiliar with how it works. The above paper sounds very interesting and I would be keen to download it but cannot see an option to do that here.

Is there something I am missing or do I need to go elsewhere to download the paper?

Advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Isaac

Hi Isaac I think you need to go direct to the journal to get the paper - hope this helps. By the way if you want more background on cloudworks and how to use it have a look at the Using Cloudworks Cloudscape.

Thanks Grainne - for both tips!

It looks like you have a very exciting platform here and I look forward to getting more involved. We're currently developing an online learning platform of our own - due to launch at the end of the year - and cloudworks could be a hugely valuable resource as we build....

Sounds interesting Isaac will be intrigued to hear how you get on. Is this a platform for students specifically? What are you bukding it on? Cloudworks was origincally developed in Drupal and is now based on a PhP framework called codeigniter. By the way you might be interrested to know that we plan to release an open source version of cloudworks in the Summer....

That is indeed interesting to know Grainne - you guys at the OU are doing some fantastic work in this area - a real inspiration!

We will be finalising the tech spec for the platform over the next few weeks so full details are still TBC but will be sure to keep you posted! Essentially we are building an online learning community that offers courses and resources from educators across the globe. We will be working closely with academic institutions, organisations, publishers and even individuals (including, I hope, the OU itself at some stage) in the provision of the content.

It will all be cloud-based and free to join (with many of the resources and courses themselves free to learners too). We  are guided by a simple 'mantra': liberating education! :)
