Research Skills: Perseverance

An excellent researcher at doctoral or PhD level:

• Demonstrates self-discipline, motivation and thoroughness.
• Perseveres in the face of obstacles and set-backs but benefits from peer, supervisor or leader support.
• Deals effectively with the dull, routine, aspects of research.

Looking ahead, a doctoral student can aim to become an excellent early-career researcher who continues to do these things.
