This chapter will describe the range of ways in which learning interventions can be represented, along with a discussion of the benefits of each of these and how they can be used as part of both the design process and as a means of making the inherent design of a learning activity explicit.  The chapter builds on a paper presented at the Networked Learning 2010 conference (Conole, 2010).
