iCreaNet - Examples of Support for Creative Skill Development

The idea with this cloud is to gather examples of pedagogical set-ups and learning designs which ancourage or support - or which we asume to support - creativity on the part of the learners and the solutions they may come up with.
1) Cultural context keyword. 2) A short description of the pedagogical design/set-up (including assessment forms) you thought of, 3) Why and to what extent you believe (or know) that this specific design encourages or supports creativity on the learners' part.
(You may know from experience, you may think it is logically so, the design may coincide with observations on factors in support of creativity etc.)
One of the original ideas in iCreaNet is to gather and compare examples from different educational/national cultures, to compare them and discuss new combinations or possibilities of cross-cultural tranfer.
It would be a goal to get a list of methods/culture then. Let us try to think of three examples to contribute each. Suggestions from non-iCreaNet members will also be welcome.

Cultural context: Danish Universities, especially Aalborg University. Project pedagocy is not exclusively Danish, but the "personal ownership" angle is well developed.
Design: Project pedagocy where students or groups take personal ownership of specific problems which they have a vested interest in, in order to analyze and possibly solve the problem using theoretical and empirical approaches.
Supports creativity because: The focus is not primarily on the curriculum but on a real life problem (or a precieved problem of personal intellectual interest). This encourages a more or less pragmatic or eclectic approach, where it is only natural to combine theoretical and other elements, which again invites out of the box thinking and student products.
