WebInstanceCollage is a web-based learning design authoring tool, which builds upon the idea of collaborative learning flow patterns (e.g. Jigsaw, Pyramid...) and assessment patterns, enabling and guiding teachers in building complex collaborative activities using graphical metaphors for these patterns, and combining and nesting them in various ways. The resulting designs can be exported using IMS-LD (level A).
The tool also allows for the particularization (or instantiation) of the designs to different particular situations, allowing for the definition of the number of groups and the participants in each of these groups (which can be extracted from existing LMSs).
When using this tool together with the GLUE! architecture for integration of LMSs and external Web 2.0 tools (e.g. GoogleDocs, MediaWiki), a teacher can now design this kind of complex activities and deploy them in multiple LMSs like Moodle (see http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pCLw9sf68kA).
WebInstanceCollage is a web-based tool, so no installation is required (only a very simple registration is needed to use the tool).
