Currently in an online phase this is an update on conferences held around ten years ago. John Burgoyne started the first one with a look at technology and learning organisations. He recently wrote about "Beyond Leadership". Although academic discussion has moved on to "dynamic capabilities" learning is likely to continue as a topic.

I have found a book - Teaching as a Design Science by Diana Laurillard - which I think relates to what John Burgoyne is saying. He may be joking about "scientific leadership" but this is worth exploring. Design Science has something to do with this.
Any comments welcome. I am not sure about this at all. Anyone know enough to start a Design Science cloud?

Gráinne, yes the book is very interesting. The diagrams get quite complicated but I think they would be helpful in specific situations. It appears to be a working book for practicing teachers but every so often there is a remark about the situation of educational organisations. Some of this could be expanded. I think it is accepted that technology is coming from outside education so although a method is on offer to work through this, there is a background question of what happens if organisations adjust more slowly.
The thing that strikes me is that the main connection with science is through method, not some abstract theory about learning, though there is reference to several. I wonder how this relates to quality assurance as a method and am asking people who may know or else may know something similar. More clues on design science please.

Blog links to a new collage of a learning cycle and a cycle for quality management found on Facebook for virtual worlds. Not sure if it fits together convincingly but this could be a start.

The cloud on Plan , Do , Check/Study, Act now has the same collaged version of diagram in the above post

I think if quality and learning loops are seen to relate, then design science will be easier to follow.

There will be an intensive phase for #mtw3 on Aug 22nd to 24th. The 23rd will concentrate on Cloudworks as an example of organisation and as a base for conversation.

The "intensive phase" is going ok except that this is a rest period of the year so not much response. There is now a playlist on YouTube - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLD6DDEC3BD585CC54 which now includes a quick guide to Cloudworks. Comments this week very welcome but I think it will continue for a while.

This cloud on Research Skills, Influence and Leadership now has a comment by John Burgoyne on a chapter about Crucioble Research by Bronwen Rees. It follows the video above on "State of Salvation".

The Design Science DJ needs some explanation, but this will have to wait till Part Two is available.

This week there is another concentration online about #mtw3. Today is mostly on Facebook and YouTube. There are also short clips on SoundCloud as well as edits on YouTube from John Burgoyne's keynote. More on this tomorrow.

I have become more interested in Cloudworks after the publicity for Futurelearn and the MOOC ideas.
I work mostly on the #mtw3 conference. While it is possible there will be a face-to-face event during 2013 I am still mostly concerned with virtual worlds. Any suggestions on clouds to look at would be welcome.

The first Management Theory at Work conference included a keynote by John Burgoyne. The YouTube above is based on sound and slides from two recent talks that are related to earlier ideaqs and could be similar to a keynote for a third Management Theory at Work. The Scribd link is to a journal with striking design and garden photos.
