Steve Machin

Professor of Economics, University College London

Steve’s main research area covers empirical work in labour economics, the economics of education, the economics of crime and industrial relations. He is Professor of Economics at University College London and Research Director at the Centre for Economic Performance. He is also one of the Editors of The Economic Journal and a member of the Low Pay Commission, the body which makes recommendations to the UK government about the national minimum wage. For a three year term, from 2009 to 2011, Steve holds the position of President of the European Association of Labour Economists.
