Back when I was a novice instructional designer, in my first course in instructional design, we broke up into groups and we were going to design instruction to explicate some aspect of LD/, D, Andragogy and so on.  The topic my team chose was: The Six Cs of motivation.

I think that learner motivation is something important to keep in mind, both for required training (corporate environment), but also for learning that happens voluntarily in order to sustain that motivation that got the learner to sign up for that course.

Just for fun, here is the wiki we used to plan out our project: http://lizcarren.wikispaces.com/6+Cs+cheatsheet :-)

If you have any other motivation resources, feel free to share :-)
