If you encounter any problems with Cloudworks, post them here and I'll look into them. I'd also love to hear any idea for how to improve Cloudworks. 

 

Special note for Monterey 2009: I'm in the UK so the time difference may mean that it'll take me a little bit of time to get back to you, but I'll check this cloud and the e-mail address each day. This also means that if I have to get back to you to ask questions, it will slow down fixing any bugs by a large amount, so if it's urgent please give me as much information as possible.

The permissions problem - where once a cloud is created it then asks some users to login again seems still to be happening.

I'm interested in how Cloudworks compares to a ning.

What we need here is a search engine like google "alerts" which scour the entire site and send the owner a summary and links. Like Ning and other such sites, the personal value density decreases as participation and postings increases leading to either overload/parlysis or just plain ignoring of the site. It needs a push feature with such capability.

There are a few problems as far as formatting and posting embedded photos/videos (it is uncertain where in the post the media will be displayed). Also, editing comments after posting should be enabled for the user who posts.

Just wanted to say thanks for the suggestions so far - really helpful and I've made a note of them all!

 

With the commenting editting, the approach that some sites use is to allow editting for e.g. 15 minutes after the comment has been made. Do you think that would be sufficient or is there a need to edit for longer?

Hi Juliette.

The 'list of known issues' link produces an error page. Is there any way of editing added links? It looks as if you have to delete a link and recreate it at the moment. The trouble with this is that the new link is added to the bottom and annot be reordered back to its original location. This is a problem if it is one of a number of initial key links. Also I cannot embed Slideshare or Blip.tv videos. It seems to work but when saving the added content it looks like the code is stripped out.

Hi Terry,

Thanks for the feedback. I actually wrote the code for editting links the week before last and it will be in the next push of code that I do to the live site this week (didn't want to do it just before I went away on holiday!)

I'm planning to work on embeds either this week or next. (There is an unsatisfactory workaround at the moment, but given that it should be ready very soon, it's probably better to wait rather than struggle with it - if you are desparate, drop me an e-mail and I'll explain!)
