Abstract: The OU’s adoption of Google Apps for Education has been small-scale to date, encouraging students to opt-in as an alternate in providing an OU-affiliated email account, plus online document storage and editing capabilities. Google Apps tools of course can provide much more than this, so in this session an overview will be given of the curriculum piloting plans and some of the Google Apps features that can add to the mix of our online learning systems.

There will also be an opportunity for discussion and feed back in terms of how well placed Google Apps tools are to supplement and enhance existing practice rather than replace current learning design and activities. The session will also cover accessibility and staff use of Google Apps.

For background information, you can access the Online Learning Systems pages at: http://intranet6.open.ac.uk/teaching/learning-systems/development/projects/google-apps-education
