I trained as a research scientist and originally worked as a botanist at the Natural History Museum specialising in tropical biodiversity. In 2000 I moved from science into education supporting the development of ICT in Hertfordshire schools at the time National Grid for Learning and NOF training were being rolled out. Having subsequently worked as the e-learning adviser for Buckinghamshire CC and an e-learning facilitator at NCSL I am now back in HE, working in the Education Enhancement team at the University of Exeter.
I currently manage the 2 year JISC funded INTEGRATE project working alongside teaching fellows and academics to pilot a wide range of technologies in Exeter’s Flagship Business School. Most recently our work has included large scale trials of wikis, online learning journals, flip cameras and online assessment.
I have particular interest in the diversity of online community spaces, the language we use around technology enhanced learning, the design of spaces for learning in groups and how we can harness student confidence and competence with technology to transform their learning experience.
