A career in corporate training - learning and development. From linear video to interactive on DVD to the web. Workshop to workplace, self-directed to blended. E-learning for compliance, induction and management training. Completing the Open Universities MA in Open and Distance Education. Looking at a PhD topic from September 2013 - virtual companions are of particular interest. A professional writer and director with credits for drama, live events and training. A profesional swim coach too. Loves leading a crowd I guess. Enjoys being and so would like to be seen - one day, as an 'educator'.
Interested in using creative problem solving techniques introduced in an OU MBA Programme 'Creativity, Innovation and Change'. Interested in building a portfolio of case studies using Activity Theory based on the work of Yrjo Engestrom.
Jonathan is exploring opportunities to undertake doctoral research and would welcome feedback or thoughts on current themes of interest which include:
Situated and applied augmented learning support in challenging or extreme environments:
- coaches of elite swimmers 'poolside' with a squad of young athletes
- a manufacturing team in a car plant
- riggers on an off-shore oil platform
- front line medics in a battlezone
Assistive technologies for the highly able - so taking techniques and lessons developed with and learnt from those with various impairments and developing super minds, eyes, ears and senses, including event gathering and memory assistance and recall. i.e. augmenting the human intellect.
Extreme learning - Supporting those unlikely to recover from a severe stroke to enjoy some memory recall and stimulation - putting a smile on the face of the terrified and terminally ill.
Translating a collection or library of a person into a digital memory in their lifetime to form a virtual version of them - so Bill Clinton reconstructed as an A.I. Oxbridge tutor of political science based on compiling everything he has read, written about and done.
M.A.M - as in 'I want my Mam!' A robust, objectified AI companion drawing functionality from a smart phone that prompts and guides troubled secondary school students. MAM stands for 'Mobile Augmented Mother' !
Jonathan is an experienced generator of ideas that intrigue
