Digital technologies offer new opportunities for using alternative media artefacts rather than text-based tasks to assess students. These alternative media artefacts include amongst others, the creation of podcasts, short videos and presentations, all of which can be created, submitted and assessed electronically. However, there is a real struggle to develop appropriate assessment models for these electronic media artefacts.
The aim of this paper is to survey existing alternative media assessment models and present our research work towards the creation of a generic alternative media assessment model.
