Collaborative learning presents problems for assessment: how to assess the process as well as the product? and is the assessment to be collective, or are individual contributions to be graded?
Gaby Lutgens and colleagues recommend asking students to define the criteria for their own assessment, which makes them more aware of what knowledge and competences they need to achieve.
They give some examples of student criteria for assessing their collaborative learning process in the TELL Pattern Book Book (follow the link and go to pp. 53-56).
