A facinating and engaging keynote - well worth a look as are the videos linked to on the right. However I did find it difficult to accept the representation of young people as narcissistic and ego-centred (generation "whatever"). This representation clearly chimes with (especially US) media views of young people and some research but not one I particularly recognise from my teaching experience (FE college based). Young people are more socially aware and more inclusive than I ever was - they are also more informed, which means that as educators we need to be quicker on our toes - no bad thing...

Good point Rebecca - I think it is very easy to take the easy 'sound-bite' approach whereas of course reality is more complex and messy. As always kids are kids - range of emotions, motivations and learning styles. The good ones thrive in the advantages offered by a technology-enhanced learning enviornment, the weaker ones flounder in even more of a mess....
