Sharing and collaborating with others over the web

I've just discovered drop box as a way of sharing files across different devices, but also as a way of sharing things with others.

  • Have you used drop box, what is your impression?
  • What other tools are people using the share?
  • How might these tools be used with co-researchers or with students?

Extra content

Although not quite the same thing I have recently begun to use evernote - again it syncs across different devices, but also seems to be an excellent tool for capturing web pages and associated links.

I use it within the SimQuest development and users group at our institure for quickly sharing system updates and applications.

Also with my PhD. students to share versions of papers &c.

And finally with my architect to share ideas (e.g. pictures of example designs) and drawings.

It is also great to sync files across different computers.

Thanks Wouter and of course it was you who pointed me to drop box in the first place! It certainly looks like a really useful tool. One thing I am going to explore is whether or not it can be used as a space to share designs. With our CompendiumLD tool with have a space on OpenLearn where people can view and download the designs but it's really not very user friendly and hence is not used extensively. I'll see if drop box can provide a better solution.
