  • Making notes on post-its - identify how you are currently using web 2.0 tools, social media, or other mediating artefacts to support
    • your learning and research
    • the design of learning activities
    • the design of OERs
  • Pair with a partner and discuss:
    •  general patterns of use
    • the way you think Cloudworks can support your current activities
  • Place your post-its on Activity Sheet to share thoughts with the wider group
  • Post general reflections here on this cloud

Some points from the morning discussion:

  • Cloudworks a dialogical artefact for Open Exeter Repository (direct links to specific resources to capture 'pedagogical' or 'design' processes.
  • Cloudworks 'facebook for educators'?
  • Value added tool for particular groups? - delivery value to educators and communities? re-directing experience as a way to improve design cycles? evaluative tool?
  • An open public space for discussion to engage international community?

Moodlers say that, in terms of designing online forums, academics are worried about

  1. the amount of time this may take
  2. How students' contributions can be moderated
  3. Will students use their own spaces anyway through facebook?

Would students like to have a 'Facebook' type presence within Moodle which academics and students could both contribute to?

But Facebook isn't  good for dissemination - only  for social networking.  Cloudworks could be academic discourse between students and academics.

Cloudworks could work, for example, to help find others' experience of moderating student forums in Moodle.

Great points Margery - I think the issue of time is a big big issue and just repurposing facebook realistic is not likely to work. I think what is exciting for you at Exeter is the potential synergy between Moodle, Open Exeter and Cloudworks!
