Grammatical fluency – for example, modifying a verb for tense and mood – requires practice, but abstract, isolated exercises are apt to be repetitive and boring and give little sense of language use in real situations.
The multimedia resources on this site are based around short stories or songs – such as ‘Ojalá que llueva café’ (‘If only it would rain coffee’) by the Dominican artist Juan Luis Guerra, which makes heavy use of the present subjective.
Transcripts, with pop-up translations or grammatical comments help students analyse the grammar, and a wide variety of onscreen exercises - with easy-to-use interactivity for getting hints and checking answers – allow them to practice vocabulary and points of grammar. [Barbara Kuczun Nelson]
