Chris has an editted book about to be published with the same title. Draws on Schon, Vickers. Richard Bawden "Critical learning systems". Communities of Practice building on Wenger's work. Drawn together through a synthesis by Chris.

Systems diagram gives a view of the aspects of social learning. Social Learning - does not have to be through technology - take a broad understanding of several contexts (conversations, meetings, protests, ...).

Marteen de Laat & Smions (2002) produced a table that represents social leanring in communities.

Social learning - need to apply: how does a very mixed community of those involved in fishing in areas with reduced stock?
