Getting to the heart of a skill
This came from the Art Department of a local school (Royal Latin School, Buckingham) as part of their parents’ evening sessions.
In 30 minutes, the lead facilitator (aka the teacher) took the audience from passive listening, to advice and highly-enjoyed participation in drawing from life. The learning design in outline: gradually reducing the time available to draw a person in front of you. And in each cycle (5 minutes, 2 minutes, 1 minute, 30 seconds) using structured discussion to plan the next drawing. The 30 second drawings were much better than the 5 minute drawings.
