The embedded video below was submitted for the OU 'Learning in an Open World' conference (22 -23 June 2010) by Barry Cooper.  Please add any comments or questions here.

Comments from Barry:

"PIVOT is the Professional Identity and Values Organisation Tools and offers videos and downloadable exercises for users to have a go at a set of techniques for self-directed enquiry and self-managed learning.

A lot of work went into their creation and this conference seems like a good opportunity to make them more widely available.

Here is a link to the PIVOT pages: www.open.ac.uk/pbpl/projects/pivot"

"Youtube introduction to the PIVOT pages - well, after a few rehersals and playing around with webcams and video capture software I've done it and uploaded it. But there's a problem with the sound being out of synch which rather spoils the effect! Aanybody had this problem and know how to cure it?"

Hi Barry

thanks for doing this. Not sure why the lip synch is out - don't know if it is a problem at capture or in the conversion to YouTube. If the latter could always try uploading again.

It strikes me that as you say, we have a lot of projects which create good stuff, and then it kind of sits there. Doing short overview vids are one way of spreading awareness. I wonder if doing promotional multi-media will become part of every project proposal.
