Cloud created by:

12 November 2010

An excellent researcher at doctoral or PhD level:

  • Sees connections between sections of own information/data and previous studies. Benefits from guidance with synthesising information/data and ideas.

Looking ahead, a doctoral student can aim to become an excellent early-career researcher who:

  • Critically synthesises new and complex information from diverse sources**.
  • Has broad vision, recognises patterns and connections beyond own discipline/research area.

Note: These skills are identified in the UK Researcher Development Framework – where they appear as A2.2 Synthesising
