An excellent researcher at doctoral or PhD level:

  • Determines to complete first project.
  • Commits to own project and establishes research credentials.

Looking ahead, a doctoral student can aim to become an excellent early-career researcher who:

  • Demonstrates a drive to engage further in research; has a sense of purpose and is dedicated.
  • Focuses on own research area; evaluates and manages potential distractions.
