Cloudworks is no longer accepting new user registrations, and will be closing down on 24th June 2019. We hope to make a read-only archive of the site available soon after.

Gaelic resources: reference

Cloud created by:

This cloud tries to collect useful references (eg grammars, dictionaries, corpora) for Scots Gaelic:

Dictionaries

Faclair Dwelly air loidhne. The authoritative Dwelly dictionary in an online searchable format. With detailed entries, cross-linking, and copious usage examples, this is the definitive online dictionary, although the entries date back to when Edward Dwelly compiled the work (pre-WWII) so lack modern terms (eg 'online'). For up-to-date language use am Faclair Beag  on the same site.

Stòr-dàta Briathrachais Gàidhlig. Gaelic-English dictionary hosted at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig. Interface in Gaelic. Entries have useful links to other references, such as Dwelly. There's also an experimental interface for mobile devices.
