Students Mini Conference (2012)

20 March 2012

The Student Mini-Conference was divided into two sessions. The first session, from 10:00 -11:00, was held at the Berrill Lecture Theatre and the second, from 11:00-12:15, in the Michael Young 1-4. Student volunteers gave presentations during the first session, discussing issues such as conference presentations, networking and fieldwork. These topics were then open for discussion in the second session, where first-year students had the opportunity to interact with the volunteers and ask them questions. As the mini-conference was organised to deal with common issues that students face across disciplines during the PhD process, it acted as a platform where students could network, listen to hands-on experience and share their concerns with the team of volunteers.

The following are the list of presenters, in the order in which they gave their talks:

Pooja Sinha: The PhD Process: Engaging with the Research Environment
Sebastien Mitea:  My PhD: A Journey to Self-fulfilment
Anne Pike and Amanda Fine: Work in Progress Seminars: Inviting presentations on various aspects of your research
Willie Chinyamurindi: Ten Tips for Fieldwork
Sunitha Pangala: Employable Researcher: A Winning CV
