Dr Rick Holliman is the Open University's (OU) Champion for Public Engagement with Research, and Senior Lecturer in Science Communication. Through his research, teaching and public engagement work at the Open University. He explores ways that academic research is communicated via a range of media and genres, and how ideas about (upstream) public engagement with research may be shifting and extending social practices. He has overall operational responsibility for co-ordinating and leading all aspects of the OU's Catalyst for Public Engagement With Research project, and helping to shape the university's strategic objectives for public engagement with research.
Public engagement with Research an overview of Pathways to impact, and review some of the core issues that need to be considered when developing a plan to generate research impact. The session will then involve a workshop activity where researchers work in groups to develop ideas for generating research impact that could be embedded within a future research proposal.
